Marine Conservation
Comprising a total of 12,018 km of coastline, Mexico has 50% of the planet's largest reef, Mesoamerican Barrier reef and 25% of its marine areas are protected. Marine biodiversity includes several species of whales and dolphins, sea turtles ( five out of the seven species in the world can be found in Mexican waters), around 500 known fish species (out of these, about 200 are endemic).
